Jasarat Huseynzadeh, chairman of the Public Union for Support of Information Initiatives, told about this to the QHT.az site:
Dear Member of the European Parliament,
As you are well aware, in January 2018, the member of the European Parliament Lars Adaktusson visited without an official permission of the Azerbaijani state the Nagorno-Karabakh region occupied by Armenia.
This visit and the meeting with the representatives of the so-called regime in the occupied territories is an obvious disrespect for our country and its territorial integrity recognized internationally and is contrary to the international law.
To recall that the UN Security Council adopted the resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 on unconditional release of the Azerbaijani territories from Armenian military units. Unfortunately, observance of these four resolutions has not yet been ensured.
We kindly appeal to the members of the European Parliament and the European community not to remain indifferent to the fact of occupation, violation of the rights of more than 1 million refugees and internally displaced persons.
At the same time, we would like to inform that on the 27th of February 2018, the members of the EP Lars Adaktusson and Michel Rivasi areintending to hold a meeting on Nagorno-Karabakh with the sponsorship of the Armenian lobbying organizations in the building of the European Parliament.
The next day, on the 28th of February 2018, the building of the EP is going to host an event called “Nagorno-Karabakh and EU: 1988-2018” arranged by the member of the EP Frank Engel and sponsored by the Armenian lobbying groups.
It is deeply regrettable to note that these events are held on the eve of the 26th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. While remaining indifferent to 613 Khojali residents killed in this genocide, a prominent organization like the European Parliament has created the conditions for presentation of Armenia’s aggressive policy.
Among 613 Azerbaijanis killed in the Khojaly genocide there were 63 children, 106 women and 70 elderly people. 1275 were taken hostage by the Armenians and 150 were missing.
• We, the Public Union for Support of Information Initiatives call on the members of the European Parliament to avoid the unauthorized visits to the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and to condemn the actions of the deputies for these visits.
• At the same time, we appeal to the members of the European Parliament not to participate in the eventsunilaterally serving the interests of Armenians, which are intended to be held on the 27th and 28th of February in the building of the European Parliament.
Participation in these events is regarded as a support for occupation and separatism, as well as a political and moral support to the Armenian regime, which carries out ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis.
We consider that the members of the European Parliament will demonstrate sensitivity on these issues and respect the obligations arising from the international law.
